The best wedding door gift is one your guests open on the ride home and finish before the week is out. In Singapore, the door gift — the small thank-you handed to guests as they leave the banquet or reception — has moved away from keychains and trinkets towards something good to eat. A petite box of cookies and cake is easy to carry, easy to enjoy, and says thank you without adding clutter to anyone’s home. This guide covers what makes a good edible door gift, how many to order, what it costs, and the Favour Boxes we bake for exactly this.
Why Edible Door Gifts Work
- Nothing gets left behind. Non-edible favours are often left on banquet tables. A box of cookies goes home.
- It suits every guest. From grandparents to colleagues to children, everyone can enjoy a butter cake or a macaron.
- It looks the part. A neat heritage box, stacked on a table by the exit, is part of the décor before it is a gift.
- It can carry your names. A sticker with your names and date turns a box of bakes into a keepsake of the day.
Our Favour Boxes
Our Favour Boxes are petite heritage boxes filled with our own bakes, from $12 each. Mix them across your guest list however you like:
- Signature Favour Box ($15.50) — a slice of butter cake, a honey-lemon mochi cookie and a chocolate mochi cookie. Three of our most-loved bakes, and the box for VIP tables or the bridal party.
- Butter Cake Favour Box ($12.00) — butter cake with a French macaron, an earl grey sandwich cookie and a coffee-chocolate sandwich cookie.
- Honey Lemon Mochi Favour Box ($12.70) — a honey-lemon mochi cookie with a French macaron and two sandwich cookies.
- Chocolate Mochi Favour Box ($12.70) — a chocolate mochi cookie with a French macaron and two sandwich cookies.
- Sweet Trio Favour Box ($14.00) — six little sweets: two French macarons, two earl grey sandwich cookies and two coffee-chocolate sandwich cookies. A good pick if you want a cookie-only door gift.
For a savoury-leaning door gift, there is also the Mini Clairssant Box of 2 ($10.50) — any two of our Mini Clairssants in a heritage gift box, chosen from flavours such as Truffle Potato, Otak Chicken Floss, Mentaiko, Black Sesame Muah Chee, Lemon Pistachio, Apple Earl Grey and Salted Caramel Chocolate Banana.
A popular approach is to give one box design to every guest for a uniform look, or to mix two or three designs so tables can swap and share.
How Many to Order, and the Budget
- Count. Most couples order one per guest; some give one per couple or household to keep the count down. Add a few spares for unexpected guests and the helpers on the day.
- Bulk discount. Order 20 or more across the Favour Boxes and the Mini Clairssant Box of 2, mixed however you like, and each is 5% off automatically in the cart. Any wedding guest list clears that easily.
- Minimum. The Butter Cake, Honey Lemon Mochi, Chocolate Mochi and Sweet Trio boxes have a combined minimum of 10 per order. The Signature box and the Mini Clairssant Box of 2 can be ordered singly.
- Worked example. 200 Butter Cake Favour Boxes at $12.00, less 5%, come to $11.40 each — $2,280 for the whole guest list, with free delivery.
Personalising with Your Own Stickers
Send us your own stickers or labels — your names, the wedding date, a monogram, a short thank-you — and we will paste them onto every box for you, so they arrive ready to set out. Please allow 7 days for stickered orders.
Timing, Delivery and Storage
- Deliver on the day. Favour Boxes are fresh bakes, not shelf-stable sweets, so we recommend delivery on the day of the wedding. They are fine at room temperature for that day.
- After the wedding. Guests should keep anything not eaten in the fridge, where it lasts up to 3 days.
- Delivery. We deliver island-wide, and orders of $150 and above get free delivery. A small surcharge applies to a few outlying postcodes.
- Book early in peak season. For popular wedding dates, ordering early gives you the widest choice of delivery dates.
Door Gifts vs Xi Bing for Guo Da Li
Door gifts are not the same as xi bing (喜饼). Xi bing are wedding pastries traditionally presented at the guo da li (过大礼) betrothal and shared with relatives and friends to announce the wedding; door gifts thank your guests on the day itself. Many couples order both. For the history, the types and how to choose, read our guide to xi bing in Singapore, or see our Wedding Xi Bing Boxes.
Planning gifts for a company event or clients as well? See our guide to corporate gifts in Singapore, where the same Favour Boxes work as staff and event gifts.
Dietary Considerations
We do not have halal certification, but we are a no pork, no lard bakery, which makes our Favour Boxes an easy choice for most mixed guest lists. If any of your guests need certified halal food, please factor that in.
On allergens: all five Favour Boxes contain egg, dairy and gluten, and all except the Signature Favour Box also contain tree nuts. In the Mini Clairssant Box of 2, every Mini Clairssant contains dairy and gluten. Truffle Potato, Otak Chicken Floss, Mentaiko and Black Sesame Muah Chee also contain egg; Black Sesame Muah Chee and Lemon Pistachio contain tree nuts; and Black Sesame Muah Chee contains sesame. Choose flavours to suit your guests. If you have guests with allergies, ask us before you order.
The Bottom Line
An edible door gift is the one your guests actually take home. Pick one or two Favour Box designs, order one per guest plus a few spares, add your own stickers with 7 days’ notice, and have them delivered on the day. At 20 or more boxes you get 5% off each, and a wedding order clears free delivery too. Everything is baked by us and packed ready to set out.
