Allergen & Dietary Information

What our badges mean, in full

Why this page exists

Every product page shows short badges like "Gluten Free" or "Nut Free" next to a one-line caveat. This page carries the long explanation behind every badge we use — what each one means, and what it does not promise. The short caveat on the product page is the condensed version of what follows; neither replaces the other.

What "Gluten Free" and "Nut Free" mean here

When we show "Gluten Free", it means we have checked every ingredient in that product and none of them contain gluten. It does not mean the product was made in a gluten-free kitchen — it is made in the same kitchen that also handles wheat and other gluten-containing ingredients for other products.

The same applies to "Nut Free": it means the ingredients contain no tree nuts or peanuts. The product is still made in a kitchen that also handles nuts.

In short: made without those ingredients, in a kitchen that also handles them. Because our kitchen is shared, we cannot guarantee a product is completely free of trace amounts picked up from the environment — that is exactly what the caveat below is for.

Our shared-kitchen caveat

Made in a kitchen that also handles wheat, nuts, dairy, egg and sesame. We cannot guarantee the absence of traces.

What each badge means

This legend is generated directly from our allergen system, so it always matches what you see on a product page.

Dietary claims

These badges mean we checked every ingredient and none of them contain the item named. The product is still made in a kitchen that handles it — see above.

  • Gluten Free
  • Nut Free

Suitable for

Vegan means the product contains no animal-derived ingredients at all — no dairy, egg, honey or gelatin. Vegetarian means it contains no meat, poultry or fish, but it may contain dairy and egg. It is not a check on gelatin — if you avoid gelatin, look for the "Contains Beef Gelatin" badge. Neither badge is an allergen claim: if you are avoiding dairy or egg specifically, check the "Contains" badges on the product page.

Contains

A product page shows one of these badges only when that ingredient is actually present. We do not show a "contains" badge speculatively.

  • Contains Egg
  • Contains Dairy
  • Contains Gluten
  • Contains Tree Nuts
  • Contains Peanuts
  • Contains Sesame
  • Contains Soy
  • Contains Beef Gelatin
  • Contains Alcohol

No badges shown on a product?

If a product page shows no allergen or dietary badges at all, that product has most likely not yet been assessed — it is not a claim that the product is free of anything. Please ask our staff before ordering if you need to know what is in it.

Some items also show no badges because they are not food, or because you choose the contents yourself — for a mixed box, the badges depend on what you pick, so please check the individual items or ask us.

Have a serious allergy?

If you or anyone you are ordering for has a serious food allergy or coeliac disease, please WhatsApp us or email hello@keongsaikbakery.com before ordering, so we can talk through the specific product with you. Our badges and this page are a guide, not a substitute for checking with us directly when the stakes are high.
